Sri Ramachandra Institute team triumphs in the FCQ of NCRM NICHE 2024 02 Dec 2024 Winners of the XIX Fujio Cup
GNC in collaboration with Nichi In Centre for Regenerative Medicine (NCRM) has been working on cell based therapies and tissue engineering systems and has developed novel cell therapy solutions in several specialties; including ophthalmology, urology and orthopaedics.
One of our core strengths has been the possession of technology (both materials and methodologies) for processing, expanding and preservation of stem cells, precursor cells as well as mature cells. With our expertise with a range of biomaterials such as polymer scaffolds and nanocomposite gels, advantageous cell culture and tissue engineering are feasible without animal protein contamination.
1.“Surgically maneuverable Technically Advanced, Rejection-free Material for Implant made of Nano-composite”
STAR-MING ; A Breakthrough bio-inert implant for cosmetology. Nine-year case study presented in JAAM meeting 2021. Can be cut into any shape by the surgeon on the table, giving freedom to insert through a smaller incision and position appropriately. While compressible, returns to original shape immediately; Clinical studies under planning. Click here for more details.
2.“Gel film for corneal endothelial cell defect treatment”
Obtained a patent for gel film for culturing corneal endothelial cells for use in the treatment of defective corneal endothelial cells. Once this treatment is established, a mission to save “An-eye for Eyes” will be possible. This gel film is also patented in India. (www.cesbank.org)
3.”Novel cell therapy method for male urethral stricture”
BEES-HAUS (Buccal epithelium Expanded and Encapsulated in Scaffold-Hybrid Approach to Urethral Stricture)
This treatment method simplifies the otherwise required long clinical procedure, less painful patient with shorter hospital stay bringing down the healthcare burden, while providing longer duration of recurrence free status (https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/iju.13852) Once this treatment is established, it has a market potential of USD 200 million in the US.
4.”Method of Enhancing Functions of Immune and Blood Cells by Preservation Solution Containing TGP and Microgravity Loading”
Obtained a patent for a method of enhancing the functions of immune cells and blood cells, by using a preserved solution containing TGP and microgravity.
5.”New Advances in Regenerative Treatments for Cartilage Injuries”
EELS-TALC (Enriched with Essentials and Lapped in Scaffold, Transplant-suitable Autologous Leveraged Chondrocytes)
A method of rejuvenating tissues based on tissue engineering, without genetic manipulation or animal-derived products, by creating an environment similar to that inside the body using chemically synthesized polymer scaffolds in an orbital shaker.
