Beta-glucan is a polysaccharide consisting of glucose bound together in a beta structure. It is known to be found in shiitake mushrooms and yeast.

There is a type of beta-glucan called beta-1, 3-1, 6-glucan which is said to be beneficial for the immune system.

In the case of shiitake mushrooms, beta-1, 3-1, 6-glucan must be extracted and purified, but this is not necessary with black yeast as it is produced outside the body. By cultivating the black yeast fungus, beta-1, 3-1, 6-glucan can be produced efficiently.

The black yeast fungus produces beta-1, 3-1, 6-glucan outside its cells. After production, the culture medium is heat sterilized, so there are no live bacteria.

NICHI GLUCAN is an Aureobasidium culture that has been approved as a food additive in Japan. (Aureobasidium = black yeast)

Different strains of black yeast produce beta-1, 3-1, 6-glucan with completely different molecular structures. NICHI GLUCAN uses the AFO-202 strain as its seed. NICHI GLUCAN is also water-soluble and can be added to other foods such as soups.

The molecular structure of β-1, 3-1, 6-glucan produced by strain AFO-202 is called BRMG.
BRMG is a combination of the medical term BRM (Biological Response Modifier) and G (Glucan).

The amount of BRMG in NICHI GLUCAN is 42mg in 1g (1 sachet).

One box is a one-month supply, but most people take one to three sachets a day, depending on their health.
